Wookey Hole.

Here are some pictures from our trip this week. It was a great day, despite the weather.
We learnt so much about rock formations in the cave and then had a brilliant ( but slightly scary) experience in the new 4D cinema. There are a few pictures but it was too dark inside the caves to take many pictures. We also learnt how paper is made and some people were lucky enough to have a go at making their very own piece of paper with a personalised stamp.

Engineering workshop

We had a brilliant morning with our visitors from STEM!
As part of Maths week, we investigated which shapes would help to create the strongest bridges. We also used our understanding of money to calculate which resources we needed for our bridges. The cheapest and the strongest received the most points!

Excavation day!

We had such a great day today.
Year Three started off by creating their own number systems in Maths. These were based on symbols which have been discovered in caves and believed to be an early number system. The activity required some imagination and lots of place value knowledge!

Year Three then headed into the art room, where they worked hard to create some cave art to display in our classroom. They used a mixture of chalk, charcoal and oil pastel to create texture and detail.

The fun didn't end there! In the afternoon, Year Three ventured to the Science area and with magnifying glasses and paint brushes in hand, they worked in teams to find, sort and identify different rocks.

What a discovery!

We will be starting a new, very exciting text about a famous discovery!

The book is called Stone Girl, Bone Girl.

Who is the Stone Girl?

What will she find?

What made her so famous?
